The apple varieties listed below are orchard favorites and highly recommended for fresh eating. Many of these varieties also make fantastic cider due to their high sugar content and ample acidity. I've highlighted a few standouts in the "Also Cider!" section.

I offer one hint as you go about your selection: Hone in on the 'ugly' apples. How did such unremarkable fruits find hospitable homes for centuries without fail? Flavor, my friend, flavor.

Product Details

Golden Russet x Cox's Orange Pippin, Kentville Agricultural Station, Nova Scotia, 1932

Though my dentist doesn't currently accept 'bushels,' I can envision a future where everyone pays in Golden Nuggets, it's that good of an apple.

Golden Nuggets are incredibly sweet and sour, with an unexpected juiciness that coats your entire mouth in Golden Nugget's sweet, tangy nectar. It tastes alive, and you taste it everywhere.

Besides sweet, sour, and juicy, Golden Nugget apples contain a richness that lingers on the tongue like fine apple cider.
